changed out thermostat and some hose,s but still runs hot.

The gauge could be misleading you due to a faulty coolant temperature sensor-could very well be a clogged radiator and a defective water pump, fan clutch or electric fan problem ,air in the system if not these-get it block and pressure tested to rule out a blown headgasket, cracked head or block
