My van will crank up and squeal and the motor will jump and then it will turn off all of a sudden within like 5 seconds of having it cranked up... And my husband said the belts are not moving at all and it has a rubber burning smell...

One of the accessories that are belt driven has locked up. What I recommend doing is simply removing the belt and checking to determine which pulley won't turn. Chances are the AC compressor has locked.

Let me know what you find or if you have other questions.
