If it was recently replaced then they may have not installed everything correctly or they may have used old seals when they shouldn't have. Will have to find the leak where its coming from to know what is wrong

If it was just replaced few months ago, theres no way it should be on its way out. I would say the seal is shot and possibly it is the old seal and was reused when replacing the tranny first time.

Was this tranny a used one? If so did it have a warranty with it?
If the seal is leaking then you may have ran the tranny with insufficient lubrication and this would indeed kill the tranny. As for the leaky seal itself though, this doesn't necessarily mean the tranny is bad, could just be the seal. Slipping may be result of low fluid.
