When I try to start the car, it will crank, however it will not start and should I leave the key in the on possition long enough the dash lights will go out and the Oil light will come back on. When I checked the oil, with a clean dip stick, it shows as over full. A local auto parts store sold me some started fluid, I tried it several times but without success. What is the most likely causes of my car not able to start?

Hi:
If it wont start with starting fluid, most likely you're not getting spark. Pull one of the plugs out and check for spark. Let me know what you find.

I tested with a tester that should show me the spark to let me know if it was working. When I had someone try to start the car there was nothing showing, no spark. I tested using the left most spark plug wire and the one to its right.

What should be my next step?

Hi:
Next, check if you are getting power to the coil.
