The engine overheats then drops back to safe at an idle.
The fluid level is okay.
Is there any thing other than the thermostat that should be checked?

Hi, I'd have to double check that the temp gage is reading correctly? When it overheats, is the cooling fan running? Where applicable, does the overflow bottle fill up in a hurry? Any trouble codes?
