I have a 94 Dodge Caravan, Sprot Wagon, SE, FWD with only 40000 miles on it. The driver's side door has a large rusted out area. Rather than fix the rust, I am looking into replacing the door completely. The door has power windows and locks. I can find a door, but how difficult is it to actually switch out? Where can I find the instructions to do this?

Look for a door with the power window and lock already in it. When you remove the old door, pull the trim panel and splash shield off, then unplug all the connectors and pull the harness out of the door. Slide that harness into the new door and reconnect everything. If you had a power mirror on the old door, you only have to remove three nuts to transfer it to the new door.

I found a liftgate and sliding door for my '88 Grand Caravan at one of the Pull-A-Part yards between Indianapolis and southern Georgia. They each cost less than 50 bucks. Everything I saw in Kentucky and south was rust-free. Those yards are extremely clean and well organized. Bring your own toolbox and throw it into one of their wheel barrows. They will help you haul big parts to the office.

This job will be easier if you leave the hinges on the van, and remove just the door. Two bolts on each hinge are all you have to remove.
