1994 Dodge Caravan My car wont run

Transmission problem
1994 Dodge Caravan 6 cyl Automatic 180000 miles

I have a 94 Dodge Caravan I just bought it about 3 months ago, everything was running fine until recently I was driving home it started slowing down, running very forced and then it stoped. At first I thought that it might have ran out of gas but after I had someone bring me gas I realized it wasn't the gas because it only ran for 1 block before it stoped again. I waited till it got late went back for it and drove it in reverse to my home. What can be the problem? Does it definetly need a new transmission?

I'm suprised you do have reverse. I would check the fluid levelm and condition, if its low that may do it, if its just dirty you may tow it in, its an electronic transaxle and may be repaired without replacement, it has full electronic diagnostics. There are good articles on how it operates here. Sorry you have this problem.
