1993 Dodge Caravan surges, backfires in intake

1993 Dodge Caravan 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

Car started surging or lacking power and sometimes backfires in the intake manifold. It did this same thing a few months ago and then stopped on it's own and a few weeks ago it started doing it again.
