The dome light does not come on when the doors are opened. The dimmer switch will turn them on as soon as it is engaged just a little bit (should not come on until slider is all the way to the right. So in order to increase the brightness of the instrument panel, I get the dome light on as well. I have replaced the complete switch assembly. What is wrong?

Sounds like two different problems. First of all, turn the dash switch to a normal setting, (where the dome lights come on but aren't supposed to). Then go around to the three doors and press the switches in one at a time to see which one isn't turning off. Most commonly it's the one at the rear of the sliding door. There should also be a light on the dash that says "Door Ajar".

If you find a switch not turning off, holler back. There are fixes for them.

Thanks that solved the problem with the lights. But there is no door ajar light. This is an se model. Do you think that might be a later addition?

The door switch on the front passenger side was not being pushed in. I screwed it out a little and now it works. There is still no do adjar indicator nor is there any time delayed shut off. Was that a feature of a different or later computer?
