Transmission problem
1991 Dodge Caravan 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

I was driving down the highway and my van made a load noise, like something broke, but it kept on going. About 1 mile later I stopped for about 45 min. When I got ready to go, it would not move any more. How do I check the axle to see if it broke?

If an axle broke, the vehicle would have stopped moving when it happened. So I will assume they are good. Can you get the vehicle to move if you place it in 1st or 2nd gear?

No, it will not move at all and it is leaking fluid now, so I think it is the transaxle or torque converter

I think I know what happened. When you put it in gear, does the speedo still show that you are moving even though the vehicle doesn't move?
