1989 Dodge Caravan

Eletrical problems? The car slowly turns over when started like the batter is dead but eventually starts. But when foot taken off the throttle, the car dies. This has happened before and I assumed it was because I rarely drive it. But it eventually would work. Before dying, all electrial systems work, and the rear wiper runs like there is a short to it. This happened before but soon went back to normal
