Engine Performance problem
1986 Dodge Caravan 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic
Hi;
My Caravan stopped running and acts like it has no fuel. If I put fuel or starting fluid directly into the carburator, it starts right up. It IS carburated, not fuel injected. I tried starting it after replacing the fuel filter and even bypassing it for test purposes. Still no start. It turns over and catches, running for maybe 30 seconds at the most after pumping on the gas a minute, then surges slightly and immediately cuts off. I'm suspecting the fuel pump, but it could be something else.
I want to solve that problem and I'd also like to know where the fuel pump on that van is located. I know some had mechanical pumps on the engine, others had external electric pumps, and still others have the pump inside the fuel tank.
