engine jerks when accelerating

my dodge caliber jerks when accelerating and, almost like its a miss are something. but it does it on it's own. what would cause this to happen? how can i fix it?

It sounds like you need a set of spark plugs and a tune up, Here are a couple of guides that will help you fix the problem.

If the problem continues try a new MAF sensor because when these sensors get off a little due too coking they wont set a code just deliverer a false reading to the PCM
