2007 Dodge Caliber gas pedal sticks

2007 Dodge Caliber 4 cyl 37000 miles

we have been having trouble lately with the gas pedal sticking, and forcing acceleration.you have to stomp on the pedal and lift it with your foot to get it to unstick. what can cause that. someone told me it could be the throttle body is dirty. if that is it how do i clean it?

That is not a safe problem. It could be the throttle body or the cable itself. Open the hood and inspect the cable for frays and maybe spray some WD40 on it. You can also do that to the TB linkage. This is not a sure fix so be careful. If it doesn't help, I recommend seeing a mechanic.
