Gas cap light keeps coming on

My gas cap light keeps coming on. I reinstall the cap and clear the message and this works for a couple of days. This happened twice. And then the fuel pump went out. I have had my car back for 2 days and the gas cap light came back on. Is this a prelude to the fuel pump failure? The gas cap looks ok. Should I purchase another gas cap? Tired of the issue and unemployed. Looking for a resolution !

Hello,

This happens when the gas cap losses its O ring can you check it? Also it could be the gas cap is not on all the way. You may have an EVAP code pending lets run the codes to see what comes up.

Thank you for this post I had this problem and the gas cap was bad I got a new one and have not had the problem since.
