How can you tell if a fule pump is "going out." I have power at low and high speeds and the car accelerates without problem. However, my fuel millage has dropped and occasionally I can faintly smell gas fumes.

By using a fuel pressure gauge and reading off the pressure. Running rich can be caused below

Possible causes include a bad O2 sensor, excessive fuel pressure (bad fuel pressure regulator or plugged return line), leaky fuel injectors, dirty air filter or restricted air inlet, or a defective coolant sensor that prevents the engine management system from going into closed loop mode
