1998 Dodge Avenger Car making a whistling sound

My car has started making a whistling noise. It seems to get worse and louder when I step on the gas pedal, and quiets somewhat when I let off the gas.

Open the hood and have someone rev the engine to help identify where the noise is coming from. Check around the air box, and air intake. Also, move vacuum lines around to see if it changes the sound. Please be careful near the fan and all moving components like pulleys, belts...
