i have a 89 dodge aries. Its got the EFI system. First of all when i first start it up it spits and sputters. Then it levels off for a bit, when i start driving it acts like it is outa gas and is sluggish to go when i floor it. I was told that it could be the spark plugs but i changed them and it still is there. Im at loss to what the problem could be. Any help would be greatly needed.

there is a possibility, but i dont think so, it would be sluggish and sputtering all the time and not level off when the car is ran for a bit after start off.

fuel pressure regulator is located on the fuel rail.

try spraying starting fluid directly in throttle body before starting, if it fires right up and runs great then i would check fuel relation, if not it may be the dist, and rotor.
