1989 Dodge Aries Speedometer doesn't work

1989 Dodge Aries 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

My machanice said that it had to do something with the transmission and the speedometer being conected, and that he couldn't find where he was supposed to connect them. Lil help?
I have a Dodge aries 89, 2.5 lt.
Front wheel drive, 4 cyl, transmission is a automatic.

Don't have any idea what you're asking. The speed sensor is a common cause of an inoperative speedometer and the odometer not advancing.

1988 models still used a speedometer cable connected to the speed sensor. 1989 and newer models use just the sensor, no cable. If your car is a mid-year model with no cable, change the sensor. If it has a cable, check the end of the cable to see if the square end is rounded off.
