1987 Dodge Aries K Reverse Light

My sister-in-law's 1987 Dodge Aries K has a tail light problem. When the car is in reverse the back up lights are on like they are supposed to be, but the back up lights are also on when the car is just in drive. Any ideas on how to resolve this issue?

check reverse light switch...might cost more than the car is worth! 15.00 or so!

That would make sense, where is the switch located and how would I go about checking it? Like I said, it isn't my car, so I don't really know about about it. Thanks in advance.
