Do I need an CV axle for my 2005 Ford Escape?

I took my car to mechanic because ABS light came on. The told me the sensor was bad and needed to be replaced. I replaced the sensor, left the shop, and as driving home the light came on again. I took the car back and was told this time that I need a new axel because the axel is just spinning around the sensor. Sounds fishy to me.

They were probably talking about sensor ring which a lot of people get confused over

That is correct, the sensor reluctor for the ABS system is loose from the axle which is common, here is how to change the CV axle out so you can see what needs to be done.

Removal and Installation
1. The front wheel speed sensor ring is integral to the front halfshaft and cannot be repaired separately.
