I'm changing my push rods and one AFM lifter that was collapsed. My question is, do I have to find TDC or not? Note: I didn't change or mess with the timing at all and I didn't change the cam shaft either. Also, I have no distributor on this engine.

Good afternoon,
No, you do not need to set the engine to number one at all.
You can just replace the lifters without having to turn or time the engine.

Hello, once more. What is the best way to get rid of engine oil sludge (embarrassing)? Pretty thick and a little clumpy. I've drained the oil and want to some how get this out before refilling and putting the new filter on.

If the sludge is that bad, it came from lack of maintenance.
I would replace the motor as you will never get it all out of the motor without completely breaking it down and having it baked.
