Daughter was driving my dodge. It stopped on her. I took a look and noticed the distributor cap was in pieces and the rotor was higher than the cap.

It appears the distributor has come apart and the shaft has migrated up. You will have to remove the distributor and inspect inside to make sure no pieces stayed in the engine.

inspect gear on cam for damage otherwise new distributer will not last long if you are going to replace it.

It could be the oil pump locked up forcing the gear upward, I have seen this before.
