actually a couple crappy rotors as well as to much heat. all rotors will distort somewhat over time and can be resurfaced if they are thick enough. some are not

To add to HMAC300's answer. If you get them real hot like coming down an off ramp from high speed and you happen to hit a puddle, you will pretty much instantly destroy them. High heat and rapid cooling is the issue.
