My car listed above e200, Kompressor is showing an error on the dash display which states; “Display Faulty, Visit Workshop”. It happens only when I accelerate, and the gears drop and when I break in a special way. I’m not 100% sure why it happens but it appears to mostly happen under those circumstances. When the error message occurs, the right-side light system stops working. The turn signal, headlight and all the lights in the front and back stop working. Is there any quick solution to this because the bulbs on the left side are blown and this happened now, and I can’t see anything because it’s dark outside and I’m in Iceland in the middle of nowhere on a snowy road.

Hi,

Please understand, this model isn't offered in the US, but I will try my best to help.

As far as the warning light, generally speaking, that indicates an issue with the steering angle sensor. If there is a fault with that sensor, the ABS and traction control units are going to act oddly. That could explain why you notice it more when applying the brakes and accelerating. (Traction loss)

I will tell you; the vehicle should be safe to drive, but those two options will likely not work properly. That doesn't mean you will lose your brakes. The brakes will work as traditional type brakes, but the ABS won't work.

As far as the lighting is concerned, please explain what is happening. I feel really bad you are stuck in the middle of nowhere and would like to help.

Let me know.

Joe

Hi Joe. Thank you for answering, no there is nothing wrong with anything but the lights. The error says that there is a display fault and when that happens, the lights on the right side of the car go off. The steering angle sensor should be fine as far as I know.

Hi,

Okay. If the right-side lights go off, there is a chance a problem exists in the illumination control module which is attached to the headlamp switch. The only way to be sure is to scan the computer to determine if there is a fault code present.

Because this model isn't offered in the US, I have no wiring schematics to check things. Have you been able to make it to a safe location?

Let me know.

Joe
