Warmed car up and drove about three blocks. Check engine light came on and the car started shaking and would barely accelerate. Drove back home the three blocks and speed would not go over thirty mph and car continued to shake.

The check engine light came on because there is one or more trouble codes set in the computer memory. You should have those trouble codes read and then post them in here if you want then we will help you fix it.

That is great but do you think it is okay to drive it if it is not overheating?

No, I would not drive it, unless it is to a shop or auto-parts store that can retrieve those codes or fix it and I would not drive more than just a few miles too.
You never know what it could be and if you have towing insurance you may even want to just have it towed.

I only going to drive to auto parts store to have code pulled, about four miles round trip. But I will talk to my daughters boyfriend first since he is a former mechanic. Really miss my dad at these times who was the best mechanic in Oklahoma!

Sorry I did not email but I went home I took the car to parts store, it was running fine by this time. They ran a code and it pulled code P2101, it detected an unexpected voltage on the throttle actuator control motor circuit during the Comprehensive Component Monitor self-test. I have not had the problem again. Thank you for your help.
