Hi, my vehicle makes a scraping noise from under the front of the car when I accelerate. It does not make a noise when I brake or when I’m idle, just when I first begin to accelerate.

Hi,

That could be a few things. However, the first thing I would check are the wheel bearings. By chance, do you ever notice a howling sound while driving? Does the noise you hear get louder when turning the wheels in either direction?

What I suggest is this: Safely lift one side of the front off the ground at a time. Place your hands on the tire and feel for free play in and out on the wheel.

I attached the specific directions below, but they require a dial indicator. If you have one, great. If not, see if you can feel any play with the tire still on the vehicle.

Also, take a look under the vehicle to see if there is evidence of anything rubbing.

Let me know what you find or if you have other questions.

Take care,

Joe
