Diagnostic display

My vehicle's diagnostic display by the four wheel drive floor shifter does not come on. I have seen it on maybe six times since I got it and it works properly when it is on. When it did work it sometimes cut in and out while driving. Any information will help. Thanks

Scan for codes the range selector on transmission may be going bad causing it.

I scanned for codes and got nothing ( other than 55).

Then you are good unless your engine runs bad, it may be just a basic engine problem.
