Yesterday the clutch pedal in my vehicle was very low and the clutch would not disengage. There were no smells or unusual noises. The clutch/brake reservoir was still full. I lifted the clutch pedal up and pumped it a few times. That fixed it. Is the clutch master or slave cylinder failing? The slave is located in a bell housing with the clutch plates in this model so I cannot see if it is leaking. How can I know which cylinder needs to be replaced?

Check the back of the master cyl, you will have to pull the rubber boot back to see if there is any signs of fluid leaking, if dry, one would suspect the slave cyl, but unfortunately with out accessing the bell housing you cant tell.
