Put diesel fuel in a gas engine tank by mistake

Five liters diesel went into empty tank realizing mistake put twelve liters fresh gas in. It started I drove home in a panic then siphoned tank bleed fuel lines and put more fresh gas in. But no start mechanic online told me to tow car and it will clear injectors and check plugs do not. If 1995 RAV4 has injectors and would it work towing rav automatic.

Good morning.

You need to completely drain your fuel tank of all fuel and add about five gallons of new fuel and then drain that as well to get all the diesel out.

Then you need to open the line to the fuel rail at the engine and flush the line from the tank forward. You need to remove the fuel filter for this process and replace with new when done. The filter is under the hood on the firewall.

Then add new fuel. It may not start at first but once the diesel gets out of the injectors, fuel will replace it and it will start.
