Hi Laura and thanks for using 2CarPros.com.
There are different actuators on your vehicle which control temperature, air flow direction, and fresh/recirculated air. Since you vehicle will not defrost, that is related to what is called a mode door actuator.
The mode door actuator is what changes the air flow direction from floor, to vent, to defrost. The actuator is located under the dash on the heater box (passenger side behind glove box).
That is my first suspect. I attached a picture for you to see the component and its location. The directions are extremely vague for removal and replacement. Here they are.
__________________________
1. Remove the 7P connector(A) from the mode actuator(C). Remove the self-tapping screw(B) and the mode actuator(C) from the heater unit.
2. Install in the reverse order of removal. After installation, make sure the mode actuator(C) runs smoothly.

I don't have a link specific to a mode door actuator, but here is one that shows a blend air door actuator being replaced. Although the parts have different purposes, they are very similar in nature and so is the replacement process.

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask questions if you have them.
Take care,
