Defrost not working every setting?

2002 MITSUBISHI GALANT
126,000 MILES • 2.4L • AUTOMATIC

I have a 2002 Mitsubishi galant and the defrost will not work every setting wants to blow out of the vents and out the floor. Fan works the dash is broken and a piece is gone but that doesn't seem to matter I also have a 2001 galant same car dash is broken but it will still change to defrost

So the mode cable sounds like it is broken or the mount for it is broken, here is what I would check to fix the problem. Check out the images (below). Please upload an image or a short video in your response
