All electrical is not working

First my gear shift knob button fell apart. then next day my car is completely dead. haven't had any trouble with battery it is only 2 years old. Are these 2 things related in the car being completely dead?

Hi,

I don't see how these are related. The gear shift simply has the shift interlock in it and this will not cause the battery to drain.

The way to figure this out is to do what is called an ignition off draw test to find out what is draining the battery.

However you can first run through these common causes first.
