The description sounds like a failing smart junction box (aka smart fuse box) located under the dash on the drivers side next to the steering column. It controls most of the lighting and electronics in the car. It is not a plug and play part as it needs to be programmed and set up to match your vehicles options. Testing it to see if it has errors requires a dealer level scan tool to see if it has any issues, then you can test the power and ground connections to be sure those are all good.
Removal is easy, Use the scan tool to extract the current programming and configuration files from the module, then disconnect the battery negative cable, drop the cover under the steering column, remove the three nuts that hold the module, disconnect the electrical connections. Reverse the process to install the replacement. Program it to the correct configuration with the scan tool and install any updates that are available.
The first image is the SJB, the next three are the power and ground connections for it. There are two other connectors but they do not have power and ground pins, only control and output signals. Testing for powers and grounds is easy using a cheap test light and reading what the pins do, some have power with the key on, some in start and some are full time power.
