Dashboard problems

ALMOST every time I go to start up my truck, I have a reoccurring problem. This problem doesn't cause the truck to misfire or shut off, but it does make for quite an annoyance and it could cost me if I don't fix it. My instrument cluster seems to work fine intermittently, and sometimes not at all. My Temperature Gauge, Fuel Gauge, and Gear Indicator Light do not function when it happens, and my Security Light, ABS Light, Battery Light, Low Fuel Light, and Seatbelt Light all come on. The speedometer, oil pressure gauge, and battery charge meter all work fine; and the odometer reads like it's supposed to. Any suggestions?

It cold be the dash itself screwing up as they are digital and do that kind of stuff. Best ting is make sure your battery terminal ends are clean and not corroded and make sure you have good connections. That is about all you can do until it gets worse.

Well, the battery is brand new and so are the bolts. The connection seems fine, and if the battery wasn't making good connection, it wouldn't start up (or so I would think). Could it be possible that the alternator is going bad?

You can check it with a volt meter, if you are getting 14 volts or so then it's ok but I dont' think it's your problem it 's intermittent and until it goes out completely not much can be done to fix it. YOu might try a pro scanner onit to see if it picks up anything but you would need to have a mechanic do it not an auto parts store etc. But even scanning it may not pickit up due to an intermittent problem. That 's why I said to wait until it gets worse.
