Is it normal when starting the car for all the warning lights on the dashboard to light up and then begin to disappear?

Hello,

I noticed in my car when starting the operation that the check engine sign and the check oil sign do not light up. Do they only light up when a malfunction occurs in them, or is this normal?

Thanks

Hi,

With the key in the run position and the engine off, the oil pressure light should turn on simply because there is no pressure with the engine off.

As far as the engine light, yes, it should turn on when the key is placed in the run position and turn off once the engine starts and the ECM determines there are no problems. (see pic below)

Are there any concerns presently related to how it is running or other issues? I ask because it could be something as simple as a burned-out bulb.

Let me know.

Joe
