Its Christmas day, can't take it in. Is it okay to drive it 8 miles to destination

The battery should have a reserve power listing, tells you how many minutes you can drive it with charging system failure with just enough amp draw to keep the engine running. Your taking a chances if you try to drive it? Hope you have a cell phone handy And turn off all unnecessary electricals.
