I just had the head gasket done on the car, and head was resurfaced, and a gasket set was bought off ebay, (couldn't find one in my area), and my x-husbands work did the job, and 3000 miles later, the gasket blew between 2 & 3 cyl. and his boss is not trying to say its the gasket that I bought off line, for he couldn't find one either, and then that would void his warranty. What is the likelyhood that the gasket itself caused it to blow again, or more like the head wasnt resurfaced enough. What else would cause the head to blow again? I need answers as soon as I can get them to confront his boss with this.

Hi there,

faulty gaskets are very rare, often it is a problem with the head, was i checked for warpage, often they bend and must be straightened before re surfacing, was all and i mean ALL the old gasket cleaned from the block and were the coolant passages checked for blockage, was the radiator cleaned & flow tested was the thermostat replaced? just a few questions that need to be answered first.
