I have a 99 Daewoo Lanos. It has started slamming into gear. At 20mph it slams into gear and jerks, at 35mph it has a very small bump into gear, and then it's fine. But slow down and the problem starts again.

Just started happening out of the blue. Did no repairs to it. Have ck'd transmission fluid and it's fine. Some sites suggest it might be the transmission fluid sensor gauge and some say it's the brain.

Any ideas before I start replacing expensive parts?

The transmission has shift solenoids in it that are told when to shift. The computer can cause it or a bad solenoid can do the same thing. Has the check engine light come on? Is the trans fluid clean and unburnt? Has the transmission ever been serviced?

Let me know. It could be something as simple as a clogged trans filter.

WHen you remove the dipstick for the trans, it should be pink in color. It will have a burnt smell to it or it will be dark in color.
