I have a the S model with a 6 speed transmission. A mechanic replaced the passenger side CV axle recently. The new axle looks nothing like the original axle, which I believe was the original as the CV joint has 1 J0 407 331 D stamped on the outer race. From looking around, I see the turbo with manual 6 speed has a unique CV axle for those years. The original had the bolts pass through the CV joint into the transmission output flange. I've attached photos of the axles under the replies area below. I would like to know which of these axles is correct for my application?
Thanks

Thanks for visiting 2CarPros.

The replacement one is wrong. That is for the auto transmission version. The manual one has the thick flange and the bolts will not stick out like that. Volkswagen 1J0407452QX is the correct axle.
