The axles just "pry" out of the axle tubes, there is a snap ring that is inside them that locks them in place. They will snap free, then install the new ones by lining up the splines and ram them in hard to get the snap rings to lock in. Pulling the differential is a bit more than a shop would do, normally you would pop the lower ball joint and turn the wheel hard to each side in turn as you removed them, but both get the job done.
