So, the CV axle has broken off inside the hub assembly as well as the front part of the hub. I've tried beating the mess out of it with a slug hammer, nothing happened. What other methods can I try to free the CV axle?

Hi,

Did it break inside the hub? See pic 1 below. Is that the section the broke? If it is, I use an air hammer to remove it. I center the tool on the axle, and it always comes out.

If you don't have a hammer, then we need to get a special puller. Most parts stores have them and will lend them out. See pic 2.

Let me know if either of these help.

Tale care,

Joe
