I am replacing a CV axle on my car and the last thing I need out is the bushing in the transmission. I am using a slide hammer and still cannot get it to budge. I think it is because of it being worn out too much and not enough to grab onto. Any suggestions? Thanks

The bushing is not very thick, the factory tool has a number of hooks that grab it but they are only about 1/16 long. If you are using a normal hook you are probably getting the case itself and not the bushing. You might want to see if you can borrow one as a loan a tool or make one out of some tubing that fits inside the bushing.
You do not want to crack the case or break out a chunk because the hook is grabbing the case.

Thanks for the information. I am sure that is the issue I am having. I have also heard of using a bushing chisel. That kind of makes me nervous with the transmission housing.

The problem with many "alternate" methods is that you can damage the housing or end up with pieces inside, then you end up tearing the entire unit out to tear it down.

On some of them a set like this can help. It does not work for the times you need to pull a bushing with a shaft in the way though.

There is always the standby method of using a hacksaw/jigsaw blade pulled to cut toward the outside and coated with grease to catch the chips.
