CV axle cannot get either of them to lock?

Replaced both axles back car out of my shop started making a grinding noise pushed it back in took right side out spine was gone so got a new axle. Now I can't get either of them to lock in not even the one I took out first.

Hi,

Are you certain the axle was fully seated when you installed it? Are the splines aligned on the transmission and axle? Also, do you have a picture of what the splines looked like on the damaged joint?

When you installed them originally, did you tap them in with anything such as a dead blow hammer?
