Cuts out when accelerating

Car idles low when started, but when driving if step on the gas it jerks hard without gaining speed. Last week, had a bad oil leak from pin hole in a bad oil filter! Oil was every where. Could this be part of problem?

Hello,

This sounds like the engine is misfiring which it could need a tune up. Here are two guides to help us:
