Very likely nothing. You'll find dozens of unused bolt holes all over the engine and transmission. They were put there because of the wide variety of options in other parts as it comes down the assembly line. A larger generator may be part of the package that includes air conditioning and a rear window defogger. That larger generator may require a different mounting bracket that bolts to different holes.
A four-wheel-drive model might have a larger cooling system that includes a larger radiator and an extra strap for one of the hoses that bolts to the engine. Vehicles built with the California emissions package will have many additional parts, some of which are bolted to the engine. They wouldn't design and build two different molds to cast two different versions of the same engine block. They just cast them with every bolt hole that could be needed in some variation.
