Misfire in cylinder 8?

The temperature gauge shoots up fast and goes back down in a second and it says I have a misfire in cylinder 8. Can a misfire cause my temperature gauge to spike and go back to normal, and can a bad coil make it happen?

It sounds like you have two problems, I would check the wiring at the coolant sensor, I don't think a bad coil can cause the temperature to act up. I would replace #8 spark plug and ignition coil because they are known to fail on these cars, here is how in the images below and I have included a guide to help as well.
