Car only starts with transmission in neutral

Car shuts off power but when you touch the battery clamp it turns on but you can only start car on neutral.

Good afternoon.

The first thing I would do is to clean the battery cables so you have a good connection.

As far as the starting, you may have either a bad park/neutral switch or it is out of adjustment.
