I have a 2000 GMC C6500 series old Uhaul truck / VIN #1GDG6H1B1YJ906154 with a 7.4L. I am trying to find the crankshaft reluctor ring/wheel (OEM #12552480) and have struck out everywhere; all dealers/OEM/aftermarket/salvage yards because it's out of production. I realize this isn't your normal repair question and apologize for that but I'm at my wits' end and wanted to ask if you have any leads you can give me, thanks.

Try www.gmpartsgiant.com/ They show it as available for about $30.00.

They and some of the others show it available but when you call or email to order they tell you they don't have it and that it's discontinued. I have a list of all the internet dealers, aftermarket and salvage yards I've emailed or called including gmpartsgiant.com and none have it, even ordered it twice from those who said they had it then was notified it wasn't available and had my order rescinded. If you have any other leads I'd be glad to have them.

Okay, let me dig around a bit. My local places that have stuff on the shelves from the 1930's are all closed down. Have you called EFI Connection, they show a Part 120-00153 that might be adaptable. What happened to the one on the engine? Perhaps it could be repaired if damaged.

Ouch, that's BS. It should have been on it if it was required for the application.

FYI I called EFI connection and they crossed the OEM # to #120-00008 and said they had 5 in stock at $275.00 each. I found one supposed supplier yesterday in California that said they had it for $188.00. I'm waiting for a picture and email confirmation before I go with them. thanks for your help and I'll let you know where I order from.

Steep price but maybe the engine outfit would help with it?

They've been worthless. I'd have to hire a lawyer to draw blood out of that turnip.
