when i try to install the crank pulley back in it keeps hitting the oil pump, the part that actually runs off the crank pulley. I've tried lining it up best i can but there has to be a method i can't figure out. am i supposed to just hammer it back in? i really don't feel comfortable doing that, it doesn't seem right. Please tell me what I'm missing.

Hi,

I agree. It wouldn't be a good idea to hammer it on. LOL

I'm not sure if it would help, but if the cover is left slightly loose, it may help. One you get it installed, then you can tighten the cover.

Let me know if the pump or pulley is new.

Take care,

Joe

Neither are new. I just finished torquing all the bolts. how would i loosen bolts without messing up the sealant around the whole perimeter?

It's not new. How can i have the cover loose and get the pulley in because I'm supposed to put sealant under the whole outer edges. won't be able to seal it if i put pulley in first.

Yep, that is correct. The only thing you can do is try to move it in different directions to see if it will align with the pump. If it won't align, something inside the pump may not be aligned properly.

I wish I had a better answer, but that is the bottom line.

Let me know.
